HIS CHILDHOOD |
He was born in a small hidden town. His life was not very long; he hardly reached forty and six years of age. He lived in several cities and most of his life passed in the city of Monterrey, where he exerted his sacerdotal ministry until his death. Three days after being born he received his Sacred Baptism in the Parish of Saint Francis of his native town, Tenancingo, State of Mexico. In addition to Raymundo the name of Fructuoso was put to him, Iike an indication that his life would be a fecund one. His father, Jacinto Jardón, was a day laborer who worked arduously to maintain his family of fourteen children. Her mother, Paula Herrera, was a woman with no studies. The laboriousness and religiosity of his parents contributed to his formation. Being still a kid, Raymundo worked in a "rebozos" factory to help his family. With the aid of the parish priest of his town entered the Pio Gregoriano School de Tenancingo, standing out by his application and proficiency.
Bishop Francisco Plancarte and Navarrete, just named Bishop of Cuernavaca, arrives at Tenancingo in search of vocations and he takes him to his Seminary. Shortly after Mr. Plancarte makes him a relative and when this Prelate is transferred to Monterrey he brings Raymundo with him. He always accompanies Mr. Plancarte with a close love and veneration.
He is ordered a Priest in the Cathedral of Saltillo. He sings his First mass in Cuernavaca and returns to Monterrey where he begins to exert his ministry in the Cathedral. His sacerdotal apostolate was a blessing for that community. There were no social categories for his heart. Everybody was equal for him. He always trusted the Providence; it was the secret of his boldness. Another secret of his untiring life was his lave to God; a tender, ardent and passionate love. Those who knew him remember how his voice, without the help of a microphone, shook the walls of the Cathedral. He vibrated his voice, his soul, his body; it was the fire, the volcano that burned in his heart. As a prolongation of that love to God that was in his spirit appeared that other essentiai loves: his love to the souls, the children, his "papeleritos" and "boleritos", his Congregation boys; in short, to all those people in need, specially to the poor widows. Father Jardón was a priest down to the marrow of his bones. He was a man of intense oration, strong faith; a man in constant fight against the sin; enthusiastic pastoral man by the preaching, the confessionary, the catechesis and the visit to the patients. A man without ambitions that wanted to be a priest to save souls, an evangelical man who was prone to help the poor men. He practiced charity every day spilling goods on all the needed ones. Example of his generosity and love to his fellows are all and each one of the acts of his life. For him, the most natural action was to come off himself whatever he had to alleviate other people's necessities. Whatever fell in his hands he gave it forward. . During the religious persecution in our Country he was exiled in two occasions.
The day when God called him back was very significant: January 6 , celebration of the Epiphany, when the Christian people celebrates the Holy Kings presentation. The news propagated with unusual rapidity by all Monterrey, not solely among his parishioners and the catholics, but inall the city, causing tears and moans. Incredulous and believers came to be present in his funeral paying honors to him and in his burial, whose courtship coveredmore than twenty blocks.
Father Jardón received the tumultuous plebiscite of admiration and affection of all the city. And that simple and faithful people continues overflowing with testimonies of gratitude and affection towards Father Jardón, priest who in hís single life had love, kindness and charity without limits for his fellow creatures .
